In today’s video we take a look at two of the most iconic pieces of music from the 16-bit era: the Green Hill Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog vs the Overworld theme from Super Mario World.  The question we ask is, which song is better?  Will Overworld’s versatility win, or will GHZ’s dynamic arrangement give it the edge?  More importantly, what do you guys think?

  1. They’re both absolute perfect spot-on soundtracks for the action they were scored for. Which one am I going to listen to whilst cleaning or riding to work or going out for a run? Greenhill Zone everytime?

You want to know what talent looks like? The guy wrote the entire Sonic 1 soundtrack in the DOWNTIME whilst working on an album for his band Dreams Come True.

  2. Gotta go with Green Hill Zone. Mario World had some of the best tunes in the Mario series, but none of them are quite as iconic as the Green Hill Zone track.

    Plus, Mario sucks.
